New Member/Applicant FAQs

Q:

I am interested in joining VBTA. What do I need to do? 

A:

Under the Membership tab on our home page, click on Join VBTA! The fee for new members is $175.00. Only completed applications with payment will be considered for approval.

Q:

Are there any discounted memberships for more than one person from the same company?

A:

Yes!  Beginning January 1, 2016, the VBTA Board of Directors initiated an incentive for companies who wish to have two VBTA memberships with the same distinction of Direct or Allied membership. After the first member joins and their membership is paid in full,  the second member may join at no additional membership charge and with full membership rights.  Please contact any Board member for further questions and clarifications.

Q:

Once I am a member, how do I obtain a user ID and password?

A:

Click on the "Members Only" tab. You will be prompted for a Member Login and Password. To obtain this, click on the link that says "Click Here to get your password" on the bottom left hand-side of the page. Type in your email address (the one VBTA has on file for you) and click submit. Your Member Name and Login will be emailed to you, and you can use this information to gain access to the "Members Only" section.  

 

Event Registration FAQs

Q:

When are the meetings?

A:

The regular meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday in January, March, May, July, and September. Traditionally, the annual Holiday Gala and Silent Auction aare held in November/Decemeber and date and time will vary by year. In addition, we have had golf tournaments in teh Spring and we host an Education Day in even years. 

Q:

How will I find out about where the meeting is taking place?

A:

Please click on the Events tab, and then click on the event you are interested in attending. You will see location information for that event including a link to a map where you can get driving directions. 

Q:

How do I register for the bi-monthly meetings?

A:

Please click on the Events tab, click on the event you are interested in attending and then click on Register for Event. Be sure to log in before registering for the event to ensure you get member pricing. The cost per meeting is $45 for members, $55 for guests if you register before the registration deadline.  After the deadline, fees are $55 and $65.  All meeting fees are non-refundable. You may pay for event registration online with the use of a Visa, MasterCard, Amex, or Discover. Debit cards may also be used. In addition to viewing a confirmation of successful registration, you will be emailed a confirmation once you have successfully registered for an event. 

Q:

How do I know for sure if I am registered for an upcoming meeting?

A:

You will receive an email confirming your registration. If you do not receive an email confirmation, you are not registered.

Q:

What if I want to send a check for a monthly meeting?

A:

VBTA does not accepts checks for regular meeting attendance. 

Q:

Can I register for a meeting at the member rate of $45 without logging on with a password?

A:

No. In order to take advantage of the $45 member rate you must be logged on to the site. Guests can register without a password at the $55 rate. 

Q:

If I am not a member of VBTA, but a GBTA or other BTA member, can I attend the monthly meetings at the $45 VBTA member rate?

A:

Yes, if you are a GBTA All Access member.  Otherwise you may attend at the guest rate.

Q:

I have prepaid for my meetings, but can not attend one meeting. Can I get a refund?

A:

No refunds are given on prepaid accounts. However, you can send a representative from your same company in your place.

Q:

I have registered for the meeting, but now I cannot attend due to a business/personal reason. Can I get my money back?

A:

No. Meeting fees are non-refundable.  

Q:

I am prepaid/registered for a meeting I cannot attend. Can someone else from my company go in my place?

A:

Yes. Please email info@vbta.org with your replacement’s name and title at least three days prior to the VBTA meeting. (Walk up name changes will be honored; however a pre-printed name badge will not be available). 

Q:

I paid for one meeting and cannot attend. Can the money be transferred for a different month?

A:

No. Meeting fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.  

Q:

How many times a year can I come as a guest?

A:

One time per calendar year.  

 

Renewal FAQs

Q:

I am a current VBTA member, and need to renew my membership. What do I do?

A:

Please login to the Members Only section. Click on the link to Pay Dues and select online or offline payment. Either submit payment online with your credit card using Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover, or your debit card, or mail your check. 

Q:

Can I renew my membership by check?

A:

Yes, by either personal or company check. 

Q:

If I pay my membership dues in October (or later) do I have to pay to renew again in December for the following year?

A:

No.  Membership is valid for 12 months from the date you join.  Renewals will be based on the expiration date of your initial membership.  As an example, if you join on October 15th, your membership will be paid through October 15th of the following year.

 

Member Information Changes

Q:

I am new to my position and want to change my company’s membership to my name. What do I need to do?

A:

Please submit your name change using our Name Change Application 

Q:

I am leaving my current position, can my membership be refunded?

A:

No. Membership is not refundable.  However, memberships are transferable to your replacement in your current membership, as memberships stay with the company where it was originally purchased.  

 

Payment Information

Q:

Can I use my debit card for a meeting/name change/membership application?

A:

Yes you can use a debit card. 

Q:

Can I use an ATM card that requires a PIN?

A:

Yes, if it is also a debit card.  It will be charged to the card affinity type (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) 

Q:

Can I use someone else's credit/debit card in my organization?

A:

Yes, you will be required to have his/her billing address information in order for the transaction to be processed.

What are the current fees for VBTA in 2016?

A:

The following are the current fees for 2016: 

 

New Membership: $175.00 (Current incentive allows a second member from the same company with the same classification to join at no additional cost!)

Renewal: $175.00

GBTA All Access - Currently $495.00 for Direct and $545.00 for Allied members. This membership allows you to join both the Virginia Chapter and GBTA for a discounted price, and allows you to attend any other GBTA Chapter event at the member rate! (

Name Change: $0.00 

Meeting Registration Fees:
