This has been such a tough year - we hope you will join us for a thoughtful discussion on mental health strategies as we head into the holidays and a new year.

Please join Barbara Hiestand as she leads us in a 45 minute discussion about mental health challenges during COVID, resources and recommendations. Registration with Zoom is required, you will receive login information after registering for the meeting through VBTA site.

About our Presenter:

Barbara Hiestand

Barbara Hiestand is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is the Assistant Director of Behavioral Health at Central Virginia Health Services (CVHS). She has additional certifications as a Substance Abuse Clinician and as a Trauma Specialist. She finished her training in EMDR Treatment (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and is completing her certification.

Ms. Hiestand has been with CVHS as a Behavioral Health Clinician since 2016, working with both children and adults in traditional therapy as well as integrated care with specific health interventions. She is passionate about serving the underserved, having worked in Community Health since 2011.  Her specific interests are working with men and women with complex trauma, mental health, and substance use disorders. She is a trainer in a variety of interests including Motivational Interviewing and Mental Health First Aid.

Ms. Hiestand received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and her Masters of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She has been licensed and working in the field for over 25 years. Outside of her career Barbara is very involved in her church, loves music, hiking, water sports, and scrapbooking.  Her greatest blessings are her 3 children, Carter, Kyle and Kaitlyn.
