VBTA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 

The VBTA’s mission includes advancing the development of travel professionals. To support this initiative, VBTA budgets funds to award scholarships to qualified members who have demonstrated a professional development plan which will benefit both the applicant and VBTA.  Applications for scholarships are accepted throughout the calendar year until all funds are awarded.  These scholarships are in addition to the GBTA and Chapter President’s Council (CPC) scholarship opportunities that are offered to our members annually.  

HOW OUR PROGRAM IS STRUCTURED

VBTA Scholarships are awarded to qualified Members to participate in professional travel development courses approved by the VBTA Scholarship Committee. Examples include but are not limited to:

• GBTA Convention Registration (Recipient must be a GBTA Member to attend Convention)
• Global Leadership Professional Certification (GLP)
• Global Travel Professional (GTP)
• Certificate in Corporate Travel Execution (CCTE)
• Continuing Education in Courses related to our Industry 

Rules and restrictions include but are not limited to:

• Maximum Scholarship funds per individual VBTA Member each calendar year is $1000.00. 
• If the full amount of requested funds is not available, the Scholarship Committee might award funds that are less than the requested amount.
• Scholarships cannot be applied to courses already completed and must be used within one year of acceptance, or for the specific event to which they apply.
• Scholarships are awarded to an individual and are not transferable.
• Recipients must have attended at least 2 VBTA meetings within the previous 12 months.

SELECTION AND FULFILLMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

• The VBTA Scholarship Committee will select scholarship grant recipients based on standard recipient selection procedures.
• The funds will be paid directly to GBTA, the approved provider, or to the recipient with receipt of their payment for an approved course or event.
• The decision not to grant a scholarship rests within the sole and unfettered discretions of the Scholarship Committee and the VBTA Executive Board, and this shall be final and binding and not be subject to challenge in any court for any reason.
